SWEDISH/RELAXATION MASSAGE This is the type of massage people most often think of when they hear the word massage. Swedish massage includes a variety of techniques that can address individual needs. Long flowing movements, kneading, direct pressure and gentle stretching are among the strokes used to loosen and relax tight muscles, reduce pain, eliminate scar tissue adhesions, increase circulation, relieve physical and mental stress and calm the nervous system. Swedish massage promotes relaxation, stress reduction, relief from muscle aches and pains, greater energy and vitality, sound sleep at night, and a general sense of overall well-being. MATERNITY MASSAGE Maternity massage aids the mother-to-be by reducing the physical discomforts of pregnancy, increasing her ability to relax, promoting an easier labor and helping to restore her body to its pre-pregnant condition. It brings a tender touch to the expectant mother's ever-changing and often fatigued body at time when she needs physical support and emotional nurturance the most. Special supportive cushions are provided (after 22 weeks) to comfortably position the mom-to-be on her side. Oil or lotion are used. MEDICAL MASSAGE Medical massage is prescribed by a chiropractor or physician and focuses on specific body areas where injury or dysfunction have occurred. This treatment based massage helps to reduce inflammation, hypertonicity, pain and restriction in the muscles and restore healthy tissue and normal movement patterns. Oil or lotion is often used. I work with clients who have been injured in auto or work-related accidents and accept L&I and most PIP insurance.
